                                                                                 2009/10 Fun Comp.

This year we have decided to drop the fun competition which we usually run along side the main competition. It can be quite a struggle to run a full size comp and a fun comp at the same venue. Last year we were only able to bring you two fun competitions held at the larger of the venues. So we can focus more on the main competition we are dropping the fun competition from this series.

Round 2 Evolution Route Setter Announced. We have some exciting news about the route setting for the Evolution Round 2. Click here to find out who will be setting your routes and will also be hanging around during the event.

Round Three Castle. Important Changes to the Round. Right guys. We have teamed up with the hard working team at The Castle to bring you an extra specially Christmas party event. We have got a jam packed day for all you guys with Lectures and an after party for any one wishing to stay on. The most important change to the round is the day and times. The third round will be held on the Saturday 13th December and not the traditional Sunday. The times too are changing slightly so as the day will all roll into one. Instead of the normal registration time of 10am, it will now be moved forward by one hour to 11am. The competition will start at 12pm and will finish at 4pm with the prize giving and head to head round between 4pm and 5pm. Straight after this we have two cracking lectures lined up courtesy of The Castle:

  • Jack Griffiths - Jack will be talking about his expeditions to the Circe of the Unclimables and the lotus flower tower
  • Neil Gresham - Neil will be talking about everything Gresham.

We are also happy to announce that all SIBL competitors will get half price entry to the lectures paying just £5.00 instead of the £10.00 usual fee. Tickets for competitors will be available on the day from the SIBL crew members.

Straight after the lecture we have The Castle Christmas Party were everyone is able to attend. This will run in the upstairs area and will be shut off for climbing. The cafe area will be turned into a bar and there will be a DJ on the mezz floor. The Castle Christmas Party will run until 1am for all you competitors who wish to stay on.  As some of you may of noticed the dates on the posters are CORRECT. We will be reminding everyone at the second round held at Evolution Climbing Centre about the changes. We are going to do our best in the future not to move the day of the SIBL and keep it to Sunday's but as I am sure you will agree this is going to be worth the exception. I would like to here what you guys think of the change and you can put your ideas on the forum thread i have started here.

Round One: The Arch. Results Now Available. That's right guys. The results are finally up and I apologies for the week it has taken to do so. The results can be found by clicking on here. We would also be keen to hear your feedback from the first round so if you have any ideas or suggestions on what we could do to make things better please use the forums above which I will be looking at on a daily basis.

Latest:

As some of you may have noticed, Neil and Chris have decided to hand over the reign of SIBL to Sam and Dave from Revolution Climbing Centre. We hope that SIBL will continue to run as smooth and successful as it has done in the past. Please bare with us through the transition period as we try to iron out any bad points

New Crew. As you may be aware, SIBL has been getting bigger and better, I have now moved to France and finding it more and more difficult to arrange things in the UK. We have now taken on 2 very experienced and keen climbers to help in the day to day running of SIBL. Sam Johnson and Dave Collom both from Kent will be helping us out for the future.

Pre Registration. Just like last year you can pre register online. this will make the entry on the day so much easier and faster. we have come up with a new system this year to make things easier. you can also qualify for huge discounts by pre registering. We will open up the registration page just as soon as all the walls are confirmed.

Last years results. Have now been moved to here, you can still see all the podium pictures and full results of last years league. You can also download them in an excel format.

The Categories are. Male open, Female open, Junior male, Junior female, Novice and Vets. The fun category that we tried out for the last couple of years has now been changed to a novice category, this category is open to anyone at any age or any ability. The prize structure for this event will be the same as the last couple of years and will be a raffle for first place only. The vet category will run, but there wont be any prizes in this category. Instead they will be scored on the open scoring system, but will still hold there own league standings.
